]]> http://www.fleetstreetklez.com/?feed=rss2&p=527 0 April News http://www.fleetstreetklez.com/?p=493 http://www.fleetstreetklez.com/?p=493#comments Sun, 01 Apr 2012 00:55:17 +0000 Shlomo http://www.fleetstreetklez.com/?p=493 Whew!  March was certainly a busy month for us, and April has much in store as well!  First we want to thank David Roberts from Brewforia and Eric Gilbert for the awesome opportunity to play at Ale Fort during the Treefort Festival.  From our host, to the audience, to the other acts, we were in excellent company.  We had a great time, enjoyed the beer, and made some new friends to boot.  Pictures from the event are on our facebook page, and Shlomo will be working on getting a gallery up on the website tonight as well, hopefully by the time you read this.  Also a huge thank you to Salt Tears Coffee House for hosting us on St. Patrick’s Day, and to District 19 Flamenco for joining us.  May it be the start of more beautiful and fun things to come!

Our designer beer glasses came and are available for sale at our shows!  Shlomo is currently working on setting up an online store on our web page, and that should hopefully be up and running by the end of this week.  We’ll be sending an announcement through our email list when that happens, so if you get another email from us in the next few days, that’s what it’s about.

We also should be having t-shirts available shortly!  We just have to nail down a few design decisions and we’ll get that order off.  Hopefully we’ll have them available for sale in time for our show at Shangi-La on the 21st.  And as soon as we do have them, they’ll be available for order from our store as well.

 

We will be performing as part of the Liquid Forum this Wednesday, at Liquid, starting at 5:30.  Our next full show will be at Shangri-La Tea Room on April 21st, at 6:00.  We’ve been adding some new songs to the old favorites, and we might even have a few more polished up by then, so be sure to stop by and we’ll see you there!

Light Up Her Heart

A dear friend and colleague, Jayme Montoya, has had to undergo two open heart surgeries in the span of two months to help correct a congenital heart defect. In our mission to help alleviate some of the unnecessary burden, Gretchen Nishitani, Craig Lamere, and Tiffany Hix have put together this lighting workshop. Our goal is to teach some natural and studio lighting techniques while raising money for our friend.

The Light Up Her Heart Lighting Workshop will be held on Saturday, March 3rd from 4-10 pm in Nampa, ID.

We will be discussing how to achieve different lighting styles in both natural and studio light.

Schedule:
4-6:30 pm: Natural light (instruction and shoot out)
6:30-7:30 pm: Dinner on your own
7:30-10 pm: Studio light (instruction and shoot out)

Registration for the Light Up Her Heart Lighting Workshop is $100 and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Jayme.

Last year we performed to an amazing crowd, with equally amazing dancers and musicians, and we are very excited to do it again!

This year, Fleet Street Klezmer will be adding two new solo instrument pieces for each of our dancers. It is beautiful to see the expression of dance and music in these and I am sure you will all love it too! We are also SUPER excited to announce that Myra Krien, belly-dance super star from New Mexico and headliner of the event, will be performing her tribal number to our music.  With Flamenco, African, Modern Dance, and the best belly dance in the state, you better get tickets now!
